ADVOCACY OFFICER, VHEMBE DISTRICT x 2

CHoiCe Trust, a Non-Profit organisation operating in Limpopo Province, is seeking a Social Auxiliary
Worker, will be responsible for supporting with addressing the structural aspects of HIV vulnerability for
men who have sex with men (MSM). This includes advocacy and engagement with stakeholders in the
area, including the provision of training and sensitisation sessions. He or she will also be required to
support with campaigns around stigma and discrimination as well as ensuring the promotion of human
rights for the targeted beneficiaries. The Advocacy Officer will also be required to support with the
psychosocial needs of beneficiaries on a referral basis and to provide general support to the
implementation team.

Role Requirements:
The appointed individual is expected to have the following experience and qualifications:

  • Social work or social auxiliary work degree / diploma
  • Minimum two years’ experience in human rights in the public health or HIV field
  • Experience in conducting and facilitating trainings
  • Demonstrate strong professional attitude and behaviour at all times
  • Experience in working with MSM or other key population groups would be advantageous
  • Be able to work independently without supervision
  • Be computer literate
  • Have strong language skills, including English and at least one local language
  • Proof of COVID 19 vaccination

The Advocacy Officer must be able to work independently, have excellent communication skills, be detail-
oriented, well organised and deadline driven. The individual must have tenacity, patience, passion for

working with people, be accurate and precise. They must be able to work towards set targets and have a
passion for working with men having sex with men (MSM).
