Call for Quotations: Climate Change Adaptation Project Inputs 

(a) Overview:

CHoiCe Trust is seeking to enhance the impact of 5 existing climate change adaptation projects in the Mopani District through the installation and construction of additional structures and assets at the project sites. The sites are located within the Greater Giyani and Greater Letaba sub-districts within the Mopani District.

CHoiCe is therefore seeking quotations from relevant service providers who can provide support with the following activities

  • –  Installation of rooftop rain water harvesting system
  • –  Construction of a concrete underground water reservoir
  • –  Construction of a charcoal cool room
  • –  Provision and installation of a solar drier
  • –  Provision and installation of shade netting
  • –  Installation of a solar pump for a borehole

(b) Detailed Scope of Work:

Charcoal Cool Room Construction

a)  Charcoal cool room to be constructed at 1 food garden site. This structure is to ensure that produce (vegetables) harvested from the climate-smart agriculture garden are able to be safely stored in areas of high temperature.
b)  The structure should be 3m in width and 2m in lengths and 3.5m in height.

Installation of Shade Netting

c) Shade netting to be constructed at 3 food garden sites. This structure will provide climate proofing against extreme weather conditions to support existing farming efforts.
d)  This will cover approximately 25m x 25m per each project.

Installation Borehole water solar PumpREF: SGF006a) Borehole solar pump to be installed at 1 food garden site. This will support with drawing of underground water to compliment the irrigation system and support the climate smart and water saving techniques applied in the garden. This will replace the existing poorly functioning pump which was installed as a unit but was unable to cope with the capacity needed in the garden.Site 1: Holani Drought Resilient Agriculture Project located in Mninginisi Block 2, Giyani

Additional Requirements:

  • –  Service providers will work with the designated staff member from CHoiCe and will maintaincommunication on progress with the organization at all times.
  • –  A final progress report will be required to be submitted at the close of the work or by 30thNovember 2021 at the latest. This must include details on the work done and must outline the specific operational and maintenance requirements for effective handing over of the structure or item.
  • –  The service provider must work with project participants active at each site. This means that there should be minimal stress placed on the operations taking place at the site, and that the service provider should engage with project beneficiaries for project labour wherever possible.
  • –  The security of items at the site is the responsibility of the service provider who can make necessary arrangements with the project team at each site as required.
  • –  This is part of a community-based climate change adaptation project and service providers must work to ensure minimal impact on the environment, including through safe disposal of any waste created by the work and reduced emissions where possible.(c) Timeframe:The activities need to take place between October to November 2021. There will be no possibility for extension. Weather conditions in the area should be considered when quotations and plans are submitted.(d) Application Process:Applicants are invited to send the required documentation to Farai Hove at farai@choicetrust.co.za by 6 October 2021. Submissions must include the following:

– A quotation on an official letterhead and duly signed by the relevant authority which includes:

o A cost breakdown to include cost of labour, travelling costs, materials needed, waste removal costs and all necessary administration

o The period of validity of the quotation
o Your expected payment schedule including any deposit required prior to work commencing

The quotation should reference any assumptions made in the process of estimating costs.

– A declaration on capacity to complete the work, also on a letterhead and signed by the relevant authority, which indicates the following:

o Details of the work to be done (a basic work plan)
o Your timeframe of the work
o The date at which you are able to start the work
o A commitment to safe and legal labour and environmental practices in the

implementation of the services

  • –  Your company registration documents
  • –  A valid tax clearance certificate or authorization code
  • –  An abbreviated company profile or CV which highlights experience relevant to this quotationpage3image44014336
  • –  Other relevant registrations required, depending on the work being quoted for i.e. CIBD Grade 1 Certificate, civil engineering qualifications, etc.
  • –  At least 2 contactable references for work previously doneEach submission must include the following in the Subject of the email submission: Quotation for CCA work: REF XXX
